Okay, today I'm giving you my thoughst on the movie Saved with Mandi Moore. I won't recommend that you watch it unless you're ready to think ALOT after it. Anyway, here are some spiritual truths that I gleaned from the movie.
1) I could tell Mandi Moore wasn't a true Christian from the beginning by the way she treated her brother. She acted like he was a burden and she expected him to be so grateful for everything she had done for him. Lesson? Treat your family like Christ would because you never know who's watching and that's a good indicator. You spill what you're full of.
2) "Hay Faye" was only nice to the people she liked. She wasn't nice to the girl who just wanted to hang out. Be nice to everyone.
3)God will never tell you to sleep with your boyfriend to save him from being gay. He will also never tell you to spray paint blasphemous things on a school. EVER. If you're praying and searching for a solution to a problem, you need to really listen to His spirit. Also, if what He's told you is a SIN, then odds are, it's a sin and He didn't tell you to do that.
4)At the end of the movie, some people just took it at face value and said that the moral was that it's okay to have sex and be gay and adulterous. That's probably the way the director's meant it but I looked at it as a way to show Christians how close minded and hypocritical we are sometimes. I gleamed from this from the ending: there's a way to deal with people who have sinned or are sinning and it's not to throw the Bible at them or kidnap them and do an exorcism. Love them. Look at what Jesus did. He ate dinner at their house. He hung out with sinners. Granted, he didn't condone their actions and he didn't take their sinning lightly but i don't think they felt comdemned. The love of Jesus brings people to Him, not condemnation.
Be careful. This movie did expose some of the downsides to Christianity. Seek God fully, not so people can look at you but so you can please God.
